If you haven't checked it out already WNYC's Radio Lab is one of the best radio podcasts out there. Always informative, interesting, entertaining and totally addictive! Topics include everything from parasites to the "after life". This short mid-season episode demonstrates the challenges and creative solutions of radio journalism and editing. Since the show focuses primarily on scientific material (which at times can be somewhat dense and overwhelming) this is a great example of sound editing that creates a approachable visual of the topic at hand.

i'm a big public radio fan, so i look forward to checking out this radio lab show. i only got to listen to a little of it for now, but i was really intrigued by the comments people posted about it, particularly the one from the listener who has loved the show for years but only just realized that it's a science show. science in disguise? hmm, i might like it! :)
ReplyDeletesounds great and thanks for sharing, jenna! i'm very partial to 'this american life' myself, but this one sounds great too.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting listen. I use to listen to NPR a lot back in Michigan (Car Talk & Prairie Home Companion. The sound merging is very funny stuff.
